Hellblade II: A Dark Fantasy Masterpiece Like ASOIAF
⚔️ Hellblade II: A Dark Fantasy Masterpiece Like ASOIAF
Seriously, I love this game. More than the first game, which was also great. I played Hellblade 2 last year. Since then, I upgraded my GPU and got an OLED screen. So, I was waiting for the enhanced edition for weeks now and had my rerun.
The game heavily draws from Norse mythology, which happen to collide with what GRRM draws from for his magnum opus. We enlist the help of Hiddenfolk, which heavily reminisce Children of the Forest. We got Giants, we got ~~Viking raiders~~Ironborne. Slavery, raiding and all that medieval goodness. Human sacrifice (Euron!). Draugr, which is close to Others. Sword duels!!!! Deep dive into human psyche! Everything I love about ASOIAF is in spades here.
👹 Make No Mistake – It’s Not For Everyone
Make no mistake. Just like Order 1886, this game was shredded to pieces by the general public. Not only because it is 5-6 hours long, but also because gameplay is very limited. So, this is still not everyone.
The gaming world is bleak for people like me who happen to love these type of games with big vision/limited gameplay. For every one of me, there are tens of survival, roguelite or "gameplay" enthusiasts out there. The fact that this game can't find enough audience is bleak for the gaming itself.
🧠 Why You Should Still Play It
If you are a graphics nerd and a lore nerd with a soft spot for sword and fantasy, I think you owe it to yourself to play this game.
- ✅ Gorgeous Graphics – Seriously, next-gen graphics at their finest. OLED screen? You're in for a treat.
- ✅ Deep Lore – The mythology is rich and engaging, with nods to Norse stories but also unique twists.
- ✅ Emotional Journey – Senua's struggles are real and relatable. Be prepared for a powerful emotional ride.
🤔 What About The Gameplay?
This is where things get tricky. If you want fast-paced action and endless loot, this isn't the game for you. But if you appreciate a slower pace, focused storytelling, and puzzle elements, you might find it rewarding.
🤔 Final Words – A Must-Play For Specific Audiences
Hellblade II is not for everyone. But if you're a fan of dark fantasy, deep lore, and emotionally impactful stories, it's a masterpiece.
